A few years ago after a trip to Florence I created a book for The Sketchbook Project in Brooklyn New York. I used images from my sketchbook and turned them into cyanotype prints and used some photos I had taken turning them into sepia images

Documenting the flora and fauna…

I am a keen user of the cyanotype process. It is essentially like an early photographic process that doesn’t need a camera, just the light from the sun. It is a lovely and relatively simple way to document objects and have a memory of a place. When I was teaching we set a project called ‘Sense of Place’ and all the staff would wish we had time to do the project ourselves. Well my time in Italy proved perfect for that project so I finally got a chance to explore it for myself.
