The Doria Pamphilj Gallery in Rome was a delightful discovery. Rome is a bit manic at any time of the year so finding a quiet place to wander around was lovely. For some reason it seems to be a bit of an undiscovered gem, not being over run with tourists like the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain or The Pantheon. Every inch is totally sumptuous with slightly crumbling edges, which is the bit I generally like the best. You could easily spend all day here slowly taking in each room and imagining what life would have been like if you had lived there at the pinnacle of its wealth and opulence. It is still privately owned by the same family and opening it to the public is their way of bringing in enough money to keep the building ticking over.<\/p>\n
