A little bit more from York

A little bit more from York

If you have never been to York you should. It is so packed with ancient stuff to explore. If you are interested in history and archaeology this place is for you as I heard our walking tour guide say ‘The history of York is basically the history of Britain”. From the Romans onwards everyone came here ruled and conquered and left traces and clues for us to find today.

The Yorkshire Museum is packed with interest for all ages full of treasures unearthed over the years. It is also set in lovely grounds perfect for a picnic on a good day (definitely not in Feb!).

The museum is home to a library of old and very beautiful books (unfortunately behind bars for their safety) but still enough to get me a little over excited! Its worth spending some time in here and there are chairs!

I would set aside at least half a day to properly take everything in and make sure you read the labels to find out plenty of stories and facts about all of the objects.
