Beautiful Bundi Palace

Beautiful Bundi Palace

Bundi Palace in Rajasthan was by far my favourite palace I visited in India. I could have stayed for a very long time just looking and absorbing the crumbling, fading, colourful aesthetic. I love that it hasn’t been messed about with (yet). There is such a sense of its 400 years of existence and it is not difficult to imagine the generations of Bundi royalty that have lived there in that time. Where to start with pictures that is the problem!

Maybe doors as that is the first thing you see when entering. It was fascinating how many different shapes I saw for doors and windows in India. In the west we are so used to square corners, or slightly wonky corners if you live in an old property like me! But nothing here compares to Indian doors and windows. Even the square cornered ones are covered with sumptuous decorations or carvings, we have a lot to learn.
